Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) Registration form
The Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) is a registered Level 4 Ofqual regulated qualification, offering a clear pathway to becoming a certified dance teacher with the ISTD. At Devon Dance Centre, we offer the DDE in Cecchetti Classical Ballet. Cecchetti Classical Ballet has a rich heritage and combines a clear and logical pathway of technical progression with inherent musicality and a unique sense of style. The Cecchetti Method and principles have been formative in the training of many of the world’s greatest ballet dancers, choreographers and directors. The Cecchetti teaching method was vital in the development of Classical Ballet in the United Kingdom and contributed heavily to modern-day British teaching methods. Enrico Cecchetti and his wife opened a ballet school in London in 1918, and his pupils included some of the most influential names in British ballet, many also influencing ballet throughout the world.
The framework of the assessment ensures that student teachers develop the practical skills and knowledge required to enter the teaching profession, as well as to develop a sustainable career. In studying the DDE, candidates cover a breadth of material, leaving them fully qualified within their chosen dance genre. It lends itself to a blended learning approach combining classroom and studio delivery with online activities and assessment. The full DDE qualification awards 120 credits at Level 4 on the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) in the UK and the Credit and Qualifications Framework in Wales (CQFW). This equates to 120 credits at Level 5 of the European Qualification Framework (EQF). Depending on individual experience and the chosen format of studying, the Level 4 DDE can be achieved over within a 2-3 year programme, either part-time or as part of full-time vocational training.
While most units can be completed online, Units 2 and 4 will need to be assessed at our studios in Torquay.
